Gonzalez Byass UK (GBUK) has added one of the leading producers of DO Txakoli – the popular Basque Country wine style – to its growing Spanish portfolio.

Txomin Etxaniz is a family-run producer based in the Spanish area of Getaria. The wine estate has with a long history of vine growing and wine production.

GBUK managing director Martin Skelton, said: “Over the last couple of years we have had amazing success with our Beronia Txoko Club, celebrating the cultural heritage of the Basque country and its gastronomic societies. Txakoli plays a big part in the gastronomic experience of the area and it is a natural fit for us. We know that our Spanish restaurant customers in the UK will appreciate the fresh spritzy flavour of these wines and we are looking to introduce these wines to a broad universe of new clients.

“With an amazing history in the beautiful setting of Getaria, the Txueka Etxaniz family has been dedicated to vine growing for generations. We are thrilled that our favourite txakoli producers have agreed to work with us in the UK and can’t wait to start selling the 2016 vintage in the new year.”

The latest addition will join others in GBUK’s Spanish portfolio, which includes producers from Rioja, Rueda, Cava, Jerez, Rias Baixas, Cadiz and Castilla la Mancha.
