Rathfinny appoints brand ambassador

15 November, 2016

Rathfinny Estate, the largest single estate vineyard in the UK, has appointed a new brand ambassador to create a ‘buzz’ around the name in advance of the launch of its first wines in 2018.

The Sussex-based winery has announced the appointment of Rob Buckhaven, who is tasked with bringing further awareness of Rathfinny to the trade.

Buckhaven has a background in wine writing and presenting and most recently he held the position of wine buyer for Boisdale Restaurants. He previously held the role of senior brand manager for Torres and he is currently a wine columnist for Metro.

He said: “Joining the Rathfinny team at such a pivotal time in the English Sparkling Wine story is incredibly exciting. Rathfinny is set to be a real powerhouse within the English wine category, from the innovative and ambitious work they are doing on their estate through to driving forward the Sussex PDO application.

“The Rathfinny story and the vision they have for their own sparkling wine, which meets incredibly high self-imposed standards of production, is what drew me to the role. It is these standards of practice which they envisage for other producers In the county looking to attain the ‘Sussex’ stamp of approval. I am hugely excited to be a part of the Rathfinny family, and believe that the timing could not be better.”

Rathfinny, which is owned by Mark and Sarah Driver, has renowned winemaker Jonathan Medard from Champagne, and Cameron Roucher from New Zealand managing the estate. It plans to export 50% of its production overseas.
