Brewers create limited edition beer for Cheltenham Beer Week

05 September, 2016

Favourite Beers has commissioned a one-off special beer to celebrate Cheltenham Beer Week (CBW) later this month (September 16 to 25).

The limited edition beer, called DIPA, is a collaboration brew between DEYA Brewing Company, Prescott Ales and Gloucester Brewery.

The 7.5% abv Double India Pale Ale will be packaged in three different formats: cask, keg and 330ml can.

“If you like strong, hoppy beers then DIPA is for you. It features six USA hops: Mosaic, Cascade, Amarillo, Bravo, Simcoe and Chinook,” said CBW organiser, Leigh Norwood of Favourite Beers. “This is the first time that Gloucestershire breweries have collaborated to produce a new beer. I can’t wait until we can do a quality assurance tasting this week before we package the beer – just to be sure it is ready of course!”.

Norwood explained that around 90 events will take place at 27 venues around the town for the Beer Week. These will include food and beer matching, beer quizzes, tutored tastings, talks by beer experts, brewing courses and tours.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
