Chivite introduces new style of Spanish rosé to UK market
Spanish wine company the Chivite Group is bringing its Las Fincas Rosado to the UK market In June this year.
The 'super-premium' rosé wine, which is a collaboration between Chivite and Michelin starred chef Juan Mari Arzak, took two years of trials to create. It will be priced around £12.99 per bottle, with the aim of securing listings in premium wine retailers, as well as the on-trade. The wine is already available from Great Western Wines.
This first vintage, produced under the IGP Vino de la Tierra 3 Riberas, combines Garnacha and Temperanillo grapes grown on the Finca de Legardeta. This land has belonged to the Chivite family for many years, and the company believes its continental climate and soil have been key contributors to the popular characteristics of its wines. It is made up of a blend of 54% Garnacha and 46% Temperanillo and has been aged on its lees for six months prior to bottling.
Julián Chivite, executive president of the Group, said: “For Spain this is a new style of rosé, but it’s had a good reception there and now we are ready to export it. It is dry and fruity and I think the colour is what the British are looking for; they are less keen on the dark rosés. This is light and new compared to the original Spanish rosés, even compared to the ones we produce from Navarra.
“The first bottles will be launching in London; the UK market is very important and it is the best place internationally to present wines like this. We have 100,000 bottles ready for the export market."
Chivite also announced the appointment of importer and distributor, Enotria&Coe, which will take on the exclusivity for the distribution of the J Chivite Estates premium wine portfolio in the UK.
Chivite said: "Our partnership with Enotria& Coe is very exciting, we look forward to putting out brands back on the map in the UK market. We have been making a bnumber of strategic changes at Chivite with the aim of revitalizing out brands and improving distribution in key global markets. The link up with Enotria&Coe is an intrinsic part of this new strategy.,"
