MMD adds a Puglia Estate to its Italian portfolio

17 March, 2016

Maisons Marques et Domaines (MMD) has announced it will be the sole importer and distributor of the Masseria Surani Wines, a Tommasi Family Estate, in the UK market.

Masseria Surani is an 80-hectare estate or organically grown vineyards in Manduria, in the heart of Salento. It was purchased by the Tommasi Family in 2013 and the family has an ongoing investment programme including plans to improve and expand the aging and cellaring capacity of the winery.

MMD managing director, Richard Billett, said: “The Tommasi family is a celebrated name in Italian wine with a four-generation history and a strong vision for the future. We are delighted to be extending our association with the family and strengthening our position further with the addition of Masseria Surani.”

Manduria is known for being one of the finest areas for the cultivation of the Primitivo grape, where viticulture has ancient origins.

MMD will have four of the vineyard’s wines: Masserria Surani Arthemis Fiano 2015 (rrp £10.99), Masseria Surani Ares Rosso 2014 (rrp £10.99), Heracles Primitivo Puglia IGT 2014 (rrp £13.99) and Dionysos Primitivo di Manduria DOC Reserva 2011 (rrp £26.50).
