Stag Beer heads over from Caribbean

15 March, 2016

Trinidad and Tobago’s Stag Beer is now available to UK beer fans.

Wanis International Foods has joined forces with one of the Caribbean’s biggest brewers, Carib Brewery Limited (CBL) to bring the Stag Lager brand to the UK.

The beer, which was launched in Trinidad over thirty years ago, will be exclusively distributed by the World Food specialist, and it comes in a 275ml dark green bottle at 5.5% abv.

The beer is described as having a fresh crisp taste fused with a fermented fruit aroma that delivers a “gentle yet assertive” hop bitterness.

“There has been a demand for Stag from consumers and businesses for a number of years and we are extremely excited to finally be able to offer it to the UK market,” explained Jag Singh, marketing manager for Wanis International Foods. “Stag already has strong ‘street cred’ and equity amongst people who are familiar with the lager, and we intend to build on that over the next few years.”

Stag is joining other CBL products in the portfolio in the UK, including Carib beer and its low abv Shandy Carib range.

“Stag is landing at the perfect time,” said Singh. “The demand for World Beers is very strong and Caribbean food and drink is on the ascendency. Add to this the product’s fantastic taste and authenticity and Stag becomes a ‘must stock’ for businesses looking to capitalise on these growing international trends.”

Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
