Brewdog forced to recall beers with X-rated expiration date

11 March, 2016

Brewdog has been forced to recall cans of its flagship Punk IPA that gave their expiration date as “Mother Fucker Day”.

Retailers were told the batch was not meant for public consumption, but for an internal event, and were asked to return them, but one speculated it was the handiwork of a disgruntled employee.

A source at Majestic Wine told OLN: "We were told to take all Brewdog Punk cans with a specific expiration date off of sale. Then we were told that batch wasn’t meant for the public - it was meant for an internal event and had something rude written on the bottom so would be collected and replaced.

“Looks more like a disgrutled employee to me. We had 20 six-packs, which is probably about average across 250 stores.”

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
