Caledonian bottles Coast to Coast ale and Three Hops lager

10 February, 2016

Caledonian Brewery is releasing its Coast to Coast pale ale and Three Hops lager in bottles.

Both beers have previously been sold only on draught in the on-trade.

Coast to Coast was the first beer to be developed in the Heineken-owned brewery’s new pilot plant.

It is a 4.6% abv ale made with British malted barley and American hops.

The 4.5% abv Three Hops is sold in 600 on-trade accounts nationally.

Caledonian managing director Andy Maddock said: “Craft is on the top of everyone’s tongue and with that buzz continuing to drive new consumers into the beer category, the bottle format offers our customers the opportunity to experiment with their range to give consumers a great choice of quality beer.”

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
