Cīroc launches limited edition bottle to mark launch of Zoolander 2

15 January, 2016

Ultra-premium vodka Cīroc has unveiled a limited edition bottle to tie in the with release of Zoolander 2, starring Ben Stiller in the title role.

The Derek Zoolander Blue Steel bottle features a bespoke blue with a hint of iridescence, which nods to the signature ‘Blue Steel’ look that helped Stiller’s character Derek Zoolander, a male model, reach global fame in the original movie.

Cīroc’s Derek Zoolander Blue Steel bottle was designed in collaboration with legendary fashion photographer, Mario Testino, who is a also a creative director at Cīroc.

Testino said: “Working with Cīroc on the creation of the special edition bottle was a really interesting experience for me.

“The Cīroc blue is a consistent colour throughout all shoot creative and ‘Blue Steel’ is of course Zoolander’s iconic pose, so that, together with the bottle design, married seamlessly.

“The final bottle is something that stands out as both iconic and fun in the stable of Cīroc products.”

Sam Reader, reserve marketing director for Cīroc in Europe, said: “Zoolander 2 is set to be one of the biggest blockbuster films of 2016 so this partnership is a hugely exciting project for Cīroc and for our customers both in the on and off-trade.

“The super-premium spirits market is growing fast as consumers are willing to spend more on luxury drinks and Cīroc is driving much of the excitement in the vodka category.

“This limited edition bottle is a fun addition to the range that will appeal to both fans of the brand and fans of the film.”

Cīroc’s Derek Zoolander Blue Steel will be available from all major wholesalers at the end of January.

The standard 70 cl format has an RRP of £38.50.

A 1.75 cl bottle will be available to the on-trade, and there will also be an ultra-limited edition 3-litre edition which Cīroc describes as “really, really ridiculously good-looking”.

Zoolander 2 will be released worldwide at the beginning of February by Paramount Pictures.

The original Zoolander was released in 2001 to mixed reviews and modest box office returns of around £42 million worldwide.

However, it has grown in stature since release and is now widely regarded as a cult classic
