Dark Horse on track for sampling campaign

Gallo is embarking on a sampling campaign for its Dark Horse California wine brand.

The brand hopes to reach 40,000 consumers in Tesco and Sainsbury’s car parks between now and October 17.

The wines will be accompanied by specially-created canapés: Posh Sushi with the Chardonnay and Beef Taco with the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Olga Senkina, marketing director for EMEA, said: “By taking Dark Horse wines on the road an encouraging trial we will be giving consumers the opportunity to be surprised and delighted by these truly exceptional wines.”

Dark Horse has an rrp of £8.99 and was launched in February of last year.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
