Tesco: Jago won't be replaced
Tesco has confirmed it will not be seeking a replacement for group wine director Dan Jago, who has been appointed chief executive of Berry Bros & Rudd.
Jago leaves after 15 years with the supermarket, which he joined as category director for beers, wines & spirits in 2006.
He told OLN he “couldn’t wait to get stuck in” and has been handed responsibility for the whole business, overseeing the company’s wine and spirits divisions as well as its international operations.
Tesco said it would not be recruiting for Jago’s post, adding that Gavin Warburton would continue as category director for BWS, supported by James Davis MW, who recently joined the team as category buying manager for wine.
Tesco has also appointed Alexandra Runciman as product developer.
Runciman has spent the past three years as membership and events officer at the Institute of Masters of Wine.
She will report to product development manager Graham Nash and work alongside wine buyer Charlotte Lemoine.
Runciman will oversee the New Zealand, light and fruity, dessert wine and gifting categories.
