Southern France specialist hires former Bibendum exec to grow UK sales

16 July, 2015

Badet Clement has hired former Bibendum off-trade boss Mike Bentley to help it boost retail listings and grow its share of the southern French category.

Bentley previously served as director at Winery Exchange and sales director at Enotria before moving to Bibendum.

He left the business when it merged with PLB and set up Jigsaw Drinks, a firm designed to help producers boost UK sales.

Bentley will advise Badet Clement on market strategy and try to gain new listings.

He said: “Badet Clement are experts in brand development, and as well as their two successful existing brands, Les Jamelles and Abbotts & Delaunay, they also have a raft of creative and well-thought out new brands that are ideal for this market, which I want to champion and get behind to generate new listing and boost existing sales.”

Badet Clement purchased the Monze Cave Cooperative in the Languedoc in January to enable it to increase production fivefold. A new winery on the site will be ready in time for this year’s vintage.

Laurent Delaunay, president of Badet Clement said: “Although we’ve been present in the UK market for 18 years now, we feel that now is the moment for us to take it to the next level.

“We hope that with all of these new initiatives, we can show the UK trade that we are back, committed to the market and we mean business.”
