Kopparberg launches frozen cider

Kopparberg has launched the world’s first frozen cider to capitalise on growth in the bugeoning frozen pouch category.

The frozen cider is available in Strawberry & Lime and Elderflower & Lime and is exclusive to the off-trade.

Up until now the frozen pouch category has been the preserve of Diageo, which began by launching the Parrot Bay range and recently launched new pouches under its Gordon’s gin and Pimm’s brands.

It told OLN that the frozen pouch is worth now worth £15 million and can grow to £30 million within two years.

Kopparberg believes it fits into the category better than any other brand and believes” the stylish drink provides the ultimate mix of invigorating fruity flavours and absolute refreshment and sits neatly alongside the brand’s current range of premium Swedish ciders”.

Brand manager Jodie Alliss said:  “The demand for a frozen variation of Kopparberg was outstanding so we’re thrilled to be able to launch the new product for summer 2015. Offering the ultimate summer refreshment and resonating with a slightly older audience, Kopparberg Frozen Fruit Cider takes the brand’s offering to the next level. We’ll be supporting the launch with PR and social media from spring into summer.”
