Sheps imports limited release brews from Boston Beer Company

02 February, 2015

Shepherd Neame has teamed up with online retailer and wholesaler The Bottle Shop to exclusively import limited edition barrel-aged beers from the Boston Beer Company.

The Kent brewery, which brews Samuel Adams Boston Lager under licence in the UK, will also bring in merchandise from the brewery.

Five beers from the US craft brewery’s Barrel Room Collection will be released this year.

They are American Kriek, a 7% abv cherry beer; New World, a 10% abv tripel; Stony Brook Red, a 9% abv brew based on Flemish red beers; Thirteenth Hour Stout, a 9% abv stout with the spicy hints of a Belgian-style oak-aged ale; and Tetravis, a 10.2% abv quad made with Belgian yeast to give it dark fruit and spicy notes.

The Bottle Shop managing director Andrew Morgan said: “We have a hugely discerning customer base – people who know and care about beer. By bringing the Barrel Room Collection to the UK for the first time we are once again importing some of the world’s most interesting beers.”

Shepherd Neame sales and marketing director Graeme Craig added: “Samuel Adams Boston Lager has exploded since we began brewing it here in early 2012. We’ve been able to complement its success by importing a select range of the Boston Beer Company’s seasonal beers. It’s great that we can now take that success one step further by working with The Bottle Shop, a specialist retailer whose customers appreciate high quality, niche products like the Barrel Room Collection.”

Agreeing to disagree

Disagreeing about wine is a fact of wine-trade life, like drugs in sport or corruption in politics. Because taste is entirely subjective, debates about our personal preferences are as inevitable as they are interminable. Indeed, these long-winded, wine-fuelled arguments are precisely what make our jobs so much fun.
