Sherry editions from Tomatin

The Tomatin Distillery Co has launched two sherry-finished whiskies.

The Tomatin Cuatro Series is made up of four limited edition expressions of its Highland Single Malt Scotch, all distilled on the same day and then finished in different types of sherry butt for three years – fino, manzanilla, oloroso and Pedro Ximenez.

There are 1,500 bottles of each expression and they are to retail at £49.99.

Distillery manager Graham Eunson said: “We are constantly striving to innovate and push boundaries and I believe Cuatro is a great example of something yet again different from Tomatin Distillery. Sherry is a key feature within our core range and this limited series allows us to delve deeper into the different effects it can have on our whisky.” 

The company has also added a sherry edition to its Cù Bòcan range of single malts.

The range is named after a ghostly black hound that haunts the Highland village of Tomatin, and the new sherry edition – matured in first fill sherry butts – is the first in set of three limited editions, the other two of which are to be released next year. Only 6,000 bottles are available, rrp £49.99.

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards. The results are top secret until the awards dinner on February 6 but it’s giving nothing away to report that the overall standard of those that will be revealed in the shortlist of finalists in the January issue of DRN is higher than it’s ever been.
