Supernova heralds return of Ardbeg space mission

Ardbeg has released the third edition of its Supernova, described by the Islay distillery as its peatiest single malt.

The launch of Supernova 2014 will coincide with the return to earth of a vial of Ardbeg that has spent three years on the International Space Station to study the impact gravity has on maturation.

The vial lands on September 12 when Supernova will be available through stores designated as Ardbeg embassies, including Whisky Exchange, Cambridge Wine Merchants and Luvians Bottle Shop.

It is bottled at 55% abv and has an rrp of £124.99.
