Kilchoman to release fourth edition of 100% Islay

Family-owned farm distillery Kilchoman will release a new edition of its 100% Islay barley-to-bottle whisky brand next Monday.

It will be the fourth edition of the single malt which is made from barley grown at and malted in the distillery,

The limited edition has been aged in 40 first-fill bourbon barrels and will be bottled on-site at 50% abv. The rrp is £64.99.

“The fourth edition represents a significant development in the maturity of our 100% Islay range,” said John MacLellan, distillery manager. “Its balance and complexity far surpassed our expectations.”

Kilchoman is run by the Wills family. It was founded in 2005 and was the first distillery to be built on Islay for 125 years.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
