Striking launch from Paul Mas

30 January, 2014

Arrogant Frog producer Les Domaines Paul Mas is set to launch a new range called Striking French.

Striking French Viognier and Merlot 2012 (rrp £9.99) are grown in the Coteaux du Limousin in the cooler eastern reaches of the Languedoc, and part-fermented in American oak.

Paul Mas has bought 100ha estate La Ferrandière in Aigues-Vives in the Aude region between Corbières and Minervois.

The estate grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Malbec, Marselan, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Viognier on ungrafted vines in limestone clay with a saline tendency because it used to be a sea lagoon.

The acquisition means the company now owns eight estates in the Languedoc.

Owner and winemaker Jean-Claude Mas has also created Astelia, a top-end range dedicated to his three daughters Astride, Elisa and Apolline.

The range, rrp £30, comprises a Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre, and will be on taste at France Under One Roof on March 3.

There's not going to be a campaign for that for much longer

The campaign name There’s A Beer For That may have got cynics like me trying to think of things there wasn’t a beer for, but broadly speaking it was a force for good.
