Thatchers back on TV screens

Thatchers is launching an ad campaign in the West Country in a bid to boost sales in the build-up to Christmas.

The cider supplier’s Pure Gold from Somerset campaign will appear on ITV during primetime programmes such as The Jonathan Ross Show, Champions League football matches and the news.

The campaign runs from December 5-22.

Managing director Martin Thatcher said: “Thatchers Gold is the number one cider in the south west, so it seems appropriate to keep the brand top of mind in the run up to Christmas in our heartland, when pubs and bars will be busy, and Christmas food and drink shopping will peak.”

Thatchers said it has grown 97% in volume in the past three years.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
