New Deen Vat wine from De Bortoli

28 October, 2013

De Bortoli has added a new blend to its Deen Vat Series, targeted at independents and regional wholesalers.

Deen Vat 184 Master Blend 2010 is a blend of Durif (50%), Shiraz (32%) and Petit Verdot (18%) from Riverina, cold-soaked to give the wine more colour and flavour and then aged for 12 months in American oak barriques, 15% in new oak and the rest in one to four-year-old barriques.

Durif was created by crossing Syrah pollen with a Peloursin plant and is also known as Petite Sirah. It gives the wine colour and fruit concentration with rich spicy fruit and firm tannins, according to De Bortoli.

The Deen Vat series was designed to be a range of full-flavoured wines at affordable prices. Deen Vat 184 Master Blend 2010 is priced at £11.99.
