Drinks Retailing Awards 2014 open for entries

26 June, 2013

The Drinks Retailing Awards 2014 are now open for entries, allowing independents, specialists, convenience stores and major multiples from across the UK the chance to win coveted trophies and recognition among the leading lights of our dynamic industry.

Every year Off Licence News strives to honour retailers who have delivered excellent service, range and value, to create successful and profitable operations, and the DRAs are rightly considered the Oscars of the drinks trade.

An elite panel of judges will decide on the best retailers in the fields of wine, beer, cider and spirits - along with the most responsible retailers and the best newcomers - ahead of a glittering awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in February 2014. All retailers nominated will be invited to attend as a guest of OLN.

Last year’s winners included Tesco, Waitrose, Majestic, Marks & Spencer, Master of Malt, Vagabond Wines and Favourite Beers, and for the victors taking home a DRA represents the ultimate accolade for their business and is a huge achievement.

Selfridges buyer Dawn Davies, who won Independent Spirits Retailer of the Year 2013, said: “Wining the DRA 2013 has been fantastic; it is good to have hard work recognised as well as how far we have come in terms of range in the last four years.  It is a great talking point with consumers and helps give them confidence in what we do.”

Zeph King, operations manager at Real Ale, Independent Beer Retailer of the Year 2013, added: “We were delighted to be awarded Independent Beer Retailer of the Year 2013, which we believe has helped with our success and expansion throughout 2013. Not only did it help to create a buzz around the time of winning the award, but it’s helped to continuously cement who we are and what we stand for with existing and new customers. We would urge all independents to sign up and give the Drinks Retailing Awards a go.”

The deadline for entering the awards is August 30. For more information on how to enter visit www.drinksretailingawards.co.uk or contact Sarah Stevens on sarah.stevens@agilemedia.co.uk or 01293 590049.

There’s no sign the bubble is about to burst either. Growth at Christmas 2016 was £22.4 million, so gin has increased its value growth nearly two-and-a-half times in a year.
