New limited-edition bottle of Jameson

Jameson is releasing a limited edition bottle of its Irish whiskey to drive sales in the build-up to St Patrick’s Day.

Ornamental glass artist David A Smith, who also built the renowned glass signs at the Ginstitute at London’s Portobello Road, was commissioned to design the bottle.

The design is inspired by the intricate glass etchings and gilding that feature on many Dublin bars
Smith’s design reflects a classic back bar mirror and includes trumpets, streamers and the message: “Embrace Your Irish Spirit”.

To support the bottle in the off-trade, Jameson has created in-store display units, POS and window displays.

New necktags also link drinkers to the Jameson website, where they can learn more about the bottle, and contain details of a competition to win a trip to Dublin.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
