Bibendum restructures senior team

Bibendum has shaken-up its managment team to "streamline" its UK business.

The move sees the departure of trading director, Richard Cochrane, after more than 10 years with the company.  

Bob Smyllie and Kirstie Papworth have left the business as their roles no longer exist.

Managing director Michael Saunders said: "They have all done a valued job for Bibendum, for which I give them my wholehearted thanks and wish them well for the future.

"Looking forward, alongside me, James Kowszun continues as finance director and Fiona Cochran as marketing director. This team is supported by Simon Farr in his non-executive capacity.

"Andrew Shaw, who recently joined as head of buying, will be responsible overall for our supplier relationships, with Iain Muggoch,  Stuart Grundy and Jamie Avenell reporting to him as they do now, with the rest of the commercial team now also working under him."

Saunders said he would be taking a more hands-on role "stepping much closer to our sales efforts".

He added: "There have been a number of changes in the UK wine market in the last few months and I am very excited about the potential for Bibendum over the next few years. I am confident we have the right team in place to ensure we can meet the challenges ahead. There are some excellent opportunities in front of us."
