Cape Heritage sales soar

22 November, 2012

Despite only launching in February, Cape Heritage has soared into the number seven spot in the top 10 chart of the UK’s bestselling South African wine brands.

Nielsen data shows Brand Phoenix’s FirstCape is the leading brand, having seen a 49% volume growth (MAT to to 15/9/12).

Brand Phoenix and Distell joined forces 18 months ago and now have a combined volume of 16 million litres in the UK, with a 23.5% share of the market.

They launched Cape Heritage earlier this year, adding it to a portfolio that includes FirstCape and Distell’s Nederburg.

Brand Phoenix’s joint director Steve Rosser said: “We are looking to grow our category share of the South Africa market to circa 35%.

“As well as driving growth via FirstCape, we will be using Distell’s two drive products, Cape Heritage and Nederburg, as the trading force behind these ambitions.

“With the duty escalator set for three more years, combined with a weak pound and global supply issues, we want to provide security of supply and commercial solutions to the UK trade.”
