Blue Nun sponsors funny women

Blue Nun is sponsoring women’s comedy competition the Funny Women Awards in its 10th anniversary year.

The brand is sponsoring the Blue Nun Variety Award, looking for the best new sketch, character or speciality act. The winner will be offered a fully promoted show at the Leicester Square Theatre in London and three exclusive performances aimed at helping to establish her on the comedy circuit. 

Armin Wagner, of brand owner Langguth wines, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Funny Women Awards 2012 in its 10th anniversary year. Laughter, just like a good glass of wine, connects people and we’re proud to be supporting grassroots female talent and comedy. There is a strong synergy between the two brands and opportunities to support the Blue Nun brand with national sampling through the venues in the regional heats and auditions.”

The awards are also sponsored by Benefit cosmetics.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
