Sunshine sales boost for Oddbins

30 March, 2012

Oddbins has seen a surge in sparkling wine sales thanks to the unseasonal sunshine.

The retailer said Prosecco sales have grown 28% over the past 10 days, cava sales have leapt 20% and Champagne sales have increased 8%.

Meanwhile cider sales have jumped by 48%.

Head of buying Emma Nichols said: “With this unexpected ray of sunshine, a lot of people are using the opportunity to have picnics and barbecues, with sparkling wines being their preferred drink.”
