WWA offers "duty window"

22 March, 2012

World Wine Agencies is offering its customers a duty window before it raises prices after the tax hike announced in yesterday’s Budget.

The duty hikes come into force on March 26 and will add 11p to a bottle of wine – making the total tax on a bottle of still wine at between 5.5% abv and 15% abv £1.90.

Duty on sparkling wine is £2.43 a bottle, up around 13p.

But World Wine Agencies said: “We are pleased to announced that we will not pass duty on to our customers until midnight on April 1.”
