Sidekick turns sour

Halewood International has launched a sub-brand into its Sidekick range – Sidekick Sours.

The new range comes in three flavours – Apple, Redberry and Blueberry – and retains the brand’s original flavours, but adding a tangy sour taste.

Sidekick comes in 50cl bottles with 14.5% abv, and is recommended as part of a long drink or cocktail or as a shot.

Brand manager Lorna Tweed said: “Sidekick has been performing well and in response to consumer demand we have now extended the range to include sour flavours. We have high hopes for this brand extension both in the on and off-trade.”

The rest of the Sidekick range consists of five cream-based and five fruit-based products, retailing at £5.99.

It is available in Tesco, Asda, Bargain Booze, Nisa, Booker and cash and carries.

Reasons to be cheerful

I would like to think my outlook on things is generally optimistic. Perhaps that’s a natural consequence of working with something designed to give pleasure. But recently it has become increasingly difficult to ignore a creeping sense of negativity pervading the British wine trade.
