23 February, 2012

Pernod Ricard has launched a kit to make an espresso martini at home.

The £16 pack comprises 20cl bottles of Absolut and Kahlúa, two martini glasses and two sachets of ground coffee, along with instructions on how to make the trendy cocktail.

Customer marketing director Dan Reuby said: “We’ve created an opportunity to drive additional value into the spirits sector with a new product that will appeal to 25 to 34-year-old consumers interested in cocktails and entertaining.

“This offering will allow off-trade retailers to tap into popular on-trade cocktail trends, while also enabling consumers to recreate this chic cocktail at home in a simple, yet impressive, fashion. This is also a perfect gifting opportunity for people who like cocktails and for those who enjoy taking interesting gifts to a dinner party.”

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
