Greene King takes brews to Brussels

30 November, 2011

Greene King has delivered a selection of East Anglian beers to Brussels for a meeting in which MEPs will discuss policy and issues.

The European All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group meets today (November 30).

More than 60 cases of some 50 beers, including Greene King’s IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale as well as brews from other local firms, including Adnams and St Peter’s, have been delivered to the event in an Old Speckled Hen branded van driven by Greene King event logistics manager Sean Wiggins.

He said: “It’s a great honour for Greene King to coordinate delivery of such a fantastic range of beers for this event. The East Anglia region has a lot to shout about when it comes to brewing top-quality beer – our brewing heritage is second to none, so I’m really proud to be the man who makes sure it gets there in one piece.”

The event takes places once a year and is hosted by Richard Ashworth MEP, chairman of the British Pub & Beer Group in the European Parliament.

Other brewers represented at the event were Brentwood Brewery, Charles Wells, Elgoods, Grain Brewery, Hellhound Brewery, McMullens and Wibblers Brewery.

The shops that stand out from the madding crowd

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards.
