New buyer for Majestic

Majestic Wine has appointed Andy Lloyd as its buyer for Chile, Argentina, beer and cider.

Lloyd joined Majestic in 2006 as a trainee manager in its Docklands store.  

He quickly progressed to become manager of the Docklands shop before moving to Covent Garden and then Majestic’s Calais superstore.

He was named Young Wine Writer of the Year in 2008 and completed the WSET Diploma with merit in 2009.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
