WKD back on TV screens

WKD launches the latest instalment in its TV campaign this week, continuing the theme of Have You Got a WKD Side?

The new ad debuts on Thursday (August 18) and is set in a pub, where one of a group of friends is trying to hide his whereabouts from his girlfriend.

The commercial forms part of the £30 million advertising and marketing campaign backing the WKD brand in 2011. Throughout the year it’s estimated that the WKD ads will be seen by 18 to 25-year olds 5.5 million times on TV and 27.5 million times on the Sky Pub Channel.

Debs Carter, marketing director at Beverage Brands, said: “It’s the powerful combination of creative, consistent and targeted advertising and marketing support that’s helped make WKD the RTD category leader with a 27% share of take home RTD sales – almost twice the size of the nearest competitor.

“The Have You Got a WKD Side? ads have played a big role in bringing the WKD brand personality to life.”

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
