Alcohol-free wine's sparkling new range

21 September, 2007

Alcohol-free wine brand Eisberg has added two spritzers to its range.

Distributed in the UK by Chaliť Richards, Eisberg Spritzer will be available as a sparkling white or a sparkling rosť.

Bob Rishworth, managing director of Chaliť Richards, said: "This launch capitalises on two important trends - those for lower-alcohol products and those for sparkling wines."

Presented in 75cl frosted bottles, Eisberg Spritzer has less than half the calories of its alcoholic equivalent. It will be rolled out to the off-trade from the end of September with a price tag of†£3.99.

A major PR and sampling campaign in early 2008 will see the product sampled by over two million consumers in supermarkets and at outdoor events, Rishworth added.

Eisberg is also available as a de-alcoholised still wine. The still range consists of Riesling, rosť, Chardonnay and newly-launched Cabernet Sauvignon.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
