Still time to enter Drinks Retailing Awards this year

05 October, 2007

Does your shop deserve an award? There's still time to enter the Off Licence News Drinks Retailing Awards 2008 before the entry deadline of Oct 12.

This year there are two new categories: Best Customer Magazine or Website, and an Award for Sales Excellence, which recognises shop managers, supermarket BWS advisers and sales assistants who go beyond the call of duty in their jobs.

And there are 14 more categories designed to award all off-licence workers, from independent specialists and convenience stores to multiple specialists and supermarkets - including Innovation of the Year, Online or Direct Sales Retailer of the Year and Community Off-licence of the Year.

There is an added incentive for independents to enter - those who come top of their category win £500.

The winners will be announced in a glittering ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel on Feb 5 2008 - so don't miss out on your chance to be part of the DRA 2008.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
