Free wine if England beat Springboks

17 October, 2007

Virgin Wines is ready to celebrate an English World Cup victory by giving its customers a free case of wine.

The online retailer will send a complimentary case of its Swing Low, Sweet Chariot selection wines to customers who buy one for the regular price of £78.88 – if England beat South Africa in the rugby showdown at the Stade de France.

“This is a great treat for English rugby fans,” says Rowan Gormley, chief executive of Virgin Wines.

“If England pull through, what better way to celebrate with our customers?"

Agreeing to disagree

Because taste is entirely subjective, debates about our personal preferences are as inevitable as they are interminable. Indeed, these long-winded, wine-fuelled arguments are precisely what make our jobs so much fun.
