Total production for the 2007 vintage for Rhône wines will be around 440 million bottles - including 240 million of regional Côtes du Rhône, according to Inter Rhône. Export brand manager Florence Boubée-Legrand has left the organisation. Olivier Legrand has replaced her and will become marketing manager for the UK, Scandinavia and Asia. Playford Ros Prestige Agencies is launching a premium Prosecco range in the UK. The 10-strong Villa Sandi range includes Prosecco di Valdobbiadene DOC Cuvee Spumante Dry and Prosecco Marca Trevigiana Frizzante and ranges in price from £6.99 to £12.99.

Rioja producer Campo Viejo has introduced screwcaps to its Viura and rosé wines to "preserve fruit flavours and freshness". "This is the latest initiative from Campo Viejo to take Rioja forward and continue to add value to the category as a whole," said Pernod Ricard wine development director Adrian Atkinson. According to

research commissioned by Pernod Ricard UK on screwcaps, consumers increasingly associate them with quality.

Louis Latour Agencies has appointed Richard Oldman to the UK sales team. Oldman will

manage accounts in the north and south west of England, the Midlands and Wales initially. He previously worked for Fuller's and Maisons Marques et Domaines.

The Tempranillo and Crianza variants of Rioja brand Marqués de Griñon have been revamped with "clearer and more visible branding" and greater emphasis on the vintage, varietal and Rioja DOC.

The joys of January

Of all the months of the year, January has the best intentions.
