Corks Out pops up with celebrity opening

19 October, 2007

Ruth and Richard Yates, owners of wine merchant Corks Out, managed to sign up a special guest to officially open their second branch.

Bolton Wanderers manager and former Liverpool and England football player, Sammy Lee, was invited to cut the ribbon at the Chester store last month.

Although the shop was bought a year ago, the couple waited until all work had been completed within the shop and the cellars before hosting their grand opening.

Lee, who is also a keen wine enthusiast, chatted to customers and autographed shirts and wine bottles while a Jeroboam of Veuve Cliquot was raffled off to raise money for local charity Chester Aid for the Homeless.
