English Wine Centre has new owners

31 October, 2007

The biggest independent retailer of English wines has been sold as a going concern.

The English Wine Centre at Alfriston, East Sussex, will be taken over by husband and wife team Colin and Christine Munday in early January. The business has been operated by Christopher Ann since 1972.

It includes the shop, a museum and a barn used for functions.

Ann said: “However much I have enjoyed being involved in the English wine industry, there comes a stage when we all have to plan for our retirement.

“I am delighted that Colin and Christine are going to maintain the ethos of the business, while giving the boost of enthusiasm that is so essential in such a business.”

The centre’s employees will all continue with the business.
