Global beer industry watching S&N

As OLN went to press, the brewing world was waiting for the next development in the Scottish & Newcastle takeover saga.

Last week, Scottish & Newcastle rejected a "highly conditional" takeover offer from Carlsberg and Heineken of 720 p per share.

The approach was quickly rebuffed by S&N, wh ich urged shareholders to "take no action".

S&N has also threatened to take Carlsberg to court, saying the take-

over bid broke the terms of its joint shareholders' agreement for Baltic Beverages Holdings.
