Tanners wine merchants has introduced a Wine in Time scheme designed to "deliver a consistently excellent range of wines" tailored to each customer's taste and timeframe. Those signing up to the scheme can receive new dozens on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis for £80 or £100 a case.

Liberty Wines is targeting independent wine merchants with a range of Canadian Pinot Noir. The three wines from Le Clos Jordanne in Niagara have limited release so are suited to small independent retailers. Recomm ended selling prices range from £10 for the 2006 Village Reserve to £25 for the 2004 Le Grand Clos. "People are looking for new and interesting things and so far these wines have been very well received," said Pippa Askham, of Liberty Wines.

James Nicholson Wine Merchants has designed a case of wine geared towards the wine novice. The Wine Made Easy range consists of examples of principal grape varieties from Europe and the New World with comprehensive tasting notes. It also includes a copy of Susy Atkins' book Wine Made Easy and a corkscrew. The case price is £124.

Former Waitrose wine buyer Susan McCraith MW has set up her own company selling ethical wines. The web-based business,, lists 50 wines ranging from £5 to £50 that are Fairtrade, organic or come from sustainable vineyards: "I was interested in finding wines with a good environmental and social track record as well as being great quality," said McCraith.

Barossa Valley Estate's entry-level E Minor range has been repackaged to be consistent with the winery's E&E range. The new design for the 2006 Chardonnay and 2005 Shiraz was unveiled at the Cellar Door annual tasting on Nov 7. Both wines have an rrp of between £5 and £8.
