Lidl has stopped selling cigarettes in all

its 78 Scottish stores. The move forms part of Lidl's campaign to promote healthier lifestyles in the country, and brings Scotland in line with the rest of its UK shops, which have never sold cigarettes. Lidl said the decision was inspired by the Scottish

government's Healthy Living programme, launched earlier this year.

Paterson Arran has relaunched its Giant Cookies range with revamped packaging. It consists of individually wrapped cookies in four varieties; triple choc, choco fudge, fruity oat and flaming choc - a spicy cookie with dark chocolate chips and chilli flakes. Each display tray hold 14 cookies, with 28 packs in an outer case.

Philip Morris has added a lower tar variant to its Marl boro cigarette range.

Marlboro Silver contains 3mg of tar compared with 6mg for Marl boro Gold and 10mg for Marlboro Red. It is priced at £5.44 for a 20-pack.

Mars is promoting its new Galaxy Mistletoe Kisses this Christmas with a £1 million TV ad campaign. Featuring the voice-over of actor Michael Gambon, the ad tells the story of a gnome who used to look after the kisses, but once a year has to empty them away. After getting inspiration from some mistletoe, he uses the kisses to create Galaxy Mistletoe Kisses bars.

Revels has teamed up with You've Been Framed in a sponsorship deal

designed to communicate the message that the chocolate brand and the ITV programme are both family favourites that can be enjoyed together. The link-up will include bumper-break ads.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
