Red Square bears more fruit

Halewood International has added two fruit-flavoured variants to its Red Square Vodka brand.

Green Apple and Wild Berry

are available in 70cl bottles with a retail price of £11.49. The additions follow the brand's relaunch in September which included the introduction of revamped packaging and an improved filtration method.

Brands marketing controller Richard Clark said: "Red Square Vodka is number three in the off-trade and the fastest growing mainstream brand in the on-trade .

"Adding to the range with subtle flavours was the natural next step for Red Square Vodka, to continue to give the on and off-trade choice and innovation, and to strengthen and grow this successful brand."

Halewood is also rolling out a series of sponsorship deals and marketing campaigns for 2008: Parliament Vodka is sponsoring the Moscow State Circus during its UK tour; Lamb's Navy Rum will be repositioned with a £500,000 investment that includes in-store activity and product development; and Crabbie's Green Ginger Wine has teamed up with Express Dairies.

The link-up will see a 50p-off voucher distributed with milk deliveries to more than 500,000 households nationwide and it

can be claimed at any retailer around the UK.

Crabbie's will also be supported over the Easter period with a promotion with Scottish tourism organisation Visit Scotland.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
