Planters: a cut above other nuts

30 November, 2007

Snacks firm Planters has created a premium nut brand.

Vermont Gold,

made by Trigon Snacks, is a range of mixed nuts

and contains ingredients inspired by New England such as maple, cinnamon and honey.

It is available in three varieties - Maple Roasted Mixed Nuts (containing cashews, almonds, and peanuts), Winter Spiced Roasted Mixed Nuts & Fruits (cashews, peanuts, dried cranberries, raisins and cinnamon), and Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts (cashews, almonds and peanuts). Packs are priced at £2.29 and come in 200g servings.

Marketing controller Iain Paton said: " Vermont Gold provides a healthier sharing alternative to crisps or chocolates while still offering a really indulgent seasonal treat.

"Market data shows sweet coated nuts showed an impressive 19 per cent growth over the past 12 months and demonstrated

28 per cent growth in the last 16 weeks before Christmas 2006."
