French chocolate spreads to the UK

Parisian chocolatier La Maison Du Chocolat is bringing its tubs of spreadable chocolate to the UK.

Made with a combination of dark and milk chocolate, Crème de Ganache is available in 245g jars for £10.90.

"It's simply heaven to spread across French brioche or toast for breakfast, or dabbed onto thinly sliced baguette as a canapé with either pepper or lemon zest over the top," a spokeswoman said.

"Spooned out of the jar and into a microwaveable container, the Crème de Ganache can be melted and used as a filling for a delicious dessert," she added.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
