Beer launch will celebrate brewery

11 January, 2008

Suffolk brewer Adnams has launched a beer to celebrate the completion of its new brewery and its moves to cut its impact on the environment.

Innovation comes in a single gift-packed bottle and an eight-bottle presentation case, and is on sale in Adnams Cellar & Kitchen stores and Waitrose.

The 6.7 per cent abv brew is made with Maris Otter barley and malted wheat, Styrian Goldings and Columbus hops.

Innovation's first 7,000 bottles are individually numbered, signed by executive chairman Jonathan Adnams and have an exclusive identification tag.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
