South African producer Spier has added a Cabernet Sauvignon to its Vintage Selection range. The premium -positioned Vintage Selection

also features a

varietal Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Pinotage, in addition to a number of innovative blends including Shiraz/Mouvedre/Viognier and Malbec/Cabernet Franc/Petit Verdot.

New look for LP cuveé rosé

Laurent-Perrier has designed a new-look gift box for its rosé Champagne. Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut

is described as "refined and deliciously fresh, yet with an intense red fruit aroma". The box is finished in pearlised pink and black, and the Champagne is available from Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason

priced around £41 for a 75cl bottle.

ACS announces annual summit

The Association of Convenience Stores will be holding its annual summit on April 24 at Birmingham's Hilton Metropole. The event, which looks at the themes of environment, innovation and community, will be chaired by TV presenter John Stapleton. Speakers include Yo! Partington joins WSTA

Former GMTV political editor Gavin Partington is to join the Wine & Spirit Trade Association as head of communications. Partington will act as the WSTA's principal media spokesman as the industry faces increased political and media interest. He starts his new position on Feb 4.

New direction for BSD
