30 January, 2008

Former wine and spirits buyer, Amanda Heffer has been made business unit director as part of a department shake-up at Sainsbury's.

Heffer will take over from Xavier Vidal who has been appointed director of the convenience store sector.

Warren Anderson remains category manager for beers, wines and spirits, overseeing wine buyers Julian Dyer, Melissa Draycott, Michelle Smith and Daniel Bracegirdle, spirits and fortified buyer Michael Luck and beer and cider buyer Chris Craig.

The Heffer announcement follows the news that wine buyer Abigail Hirshfeld has left the supermarket chain.
