Tusker sponsors African exhibition

05 February, 2008

African lager brand, Tusker is to sponsor an exhibition of photographs by Mirella Ricciardi.

The exhibition, which opens at the Michael Hoppen gallery in London on Feb 21, shows images from Ricciardi’s 1971 book, Vanishing Africa.

The East African beer was seen as the ideal partner to the exhibition which features some of the last photographs of traditional African tribes.

Peter Karsten, marketing director for Tusker in the UK said: “It is great that Tusker can be involved with such a dazzling exhibition. Although Africa has changed so much one thing still remains the same and that is Tusker is a true African original."

The exhibition runs until April 5.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
