Judges line up to pick top 100 Vins de Pays

06 February, 2008

The judging panel for this year’s Top 100 Vins de Pays competition has been confirmed.

The 16-strong panel includes retailers, suppliers and wine writers including Waitrose’s wine buying manager Justin Howard Sneyd MW, Majestic wine buyer Chris Hardy, Marks and Spencer winemaker Jo Ahearne, and Thresher Group head buyer Jonathan Butt.

OLN’s wine editor at large Tim Atkin will chair the panel.

Now in its fifth year, the competition has become a powerful marketing tool for both the UK trade and French producers. Results are published in OLN, and the winning wines are shown at the annual London International Wine Fair.

The competition is organised by Vins de Pays and Vins de Table body ANIVIT, in association with Languedoc producers’ organisation Inter Oc. It is open to all Vins de Pays from France. The closing date for entries is March 7, and all wines must be delivered by March 14. For more information, see www.vins-de-pays.info/100vdp
