Reh Kendermann hopes extra sales are in the can

08 February, 2008

German wine producer Reh Kendermann is rolling out a semi-sparkling variant of its Black Tower brand in a ring-pull can.

Aimed at younger drinkers, Black Tower Fizz is described by the producer as "deliciously fresh and full of lively fruit flavours of pineapple and ripe mango". It has a 9.5 per cent abv.

The recyclable 20cl aluminium can has the benefit of being "lightweight, convenient, has a long shelf life, and suits the pick-up-and-go needs of any occasion partying consumers", according to Reh Kendermann.

"The single-serve size is ideal for bars, clubs and outdoor enjoyment," added managing director Nik Schritz. "We believe sales from this new product will quickly speed us to achieving our goal of 1 million 9-litre case sales worldwide this summer."

Black Tower Fizz will be available in the brands' key export markets, including the UK, Brazil, Korea and Sweden, and comes in trays of 24 cans.

Reh Kendermann has added a Pinot Noir to its relaunched Special Edition range in a move to appeal to the "more upmarket, knowledgeable consumer". From the Pfalz region, Kendermann's Special Edition Pinot Noir 2006 joins the existing Pinot Grigio/Chardonnay blend. "It is a truly inspirational wine which shows that Germany can produce excellent premium wines to compete on the international stage," Schritz said.
